North Florida Duck Hunting

Guided redhead, bluebill, and wood duck hunts on the Forgotten Coast. Piney Island, St. George Island, Apalachicola Bay, Lake Wimico, and more.

Guided Duck Hunts on Florida’s Big Bend

SoReel Outdoors guides duck hunts on the salt marsh and open bays of North Florida, from the St. Marks refuge country west to Apalachicola Bay. This is diver country. Redheads and bluebills raft up on the grass flats by the thousands every winter, and we hunt them over big decoy spreads from brushed boat blinds. When the weather lines up we hunt wood ducks and puddle ducks in the creeks and swamps too.

We book hunters who are here for the experience, not just the birds. Friends, fathers and sons, crews that come back every winter. Good people in the boat, good stories on the ride in, and a hunt run the way it ought to be run.

Where We Hunt

Piney Island. Open water divers off the island and the surrounding bars.

St. George Island, Apalachicola Bay and Lake Wimico. Big water shoots for the hunter staying on the island, and Lake Wimico when the bay is too rough.

Apalachee Bay flats, plus more. Miles of grass flats and marsh edge, and more water added every season.

How It Works

We do not combine parties. Your group hunts together, and only your group, every day you are here. We do not run half day hunts. A half day does not build anything, not for you and not for us. The minimum booking is one full day plus one half day, and three days is what we prefer. Three days lets us move with the weather, put you on birds when the wind swings, and actually get to know the people in the boat. Large and small groups both welcome, and there is no minimum number of hunters.

The Spread

We run two boats on every hunt. One sets the decoys, one carries the hunters. That is not for show. It means the spread is already right when you get there, and when the birds move we pick up and move with them without burning your morning.

We can put out more than 300 decoys. Rafts, long lines, and Texas rigs, set for the water we are on that day. Enough decoys to make a change without the hunters sitting and waiting on us.

Staying ahead of wind and tide is the whole game on this coast. Conditions change through the morning, and the birds change with them. Knowing where they will be an hour from now, and having the boats and the decoys on hand to already be there, is what separates a good day from a long one. That comes from a lifetime on this water and the equipment to act on it.

We run trained retrievers. If you hunt your own dog, bring him.

You bring your gun, shells, waders, license, and stamps. We bring the boat, the blind, the decoys, and the know how. See What to Bring.

Gator Hunts Too

We also guide alligator hunts across North Florida. We can provide tags or help you fill yours. See Gator Hunts, or the full gator operation at North Florida Gator Hunting.
