Piney Island Duck Hunting

Open water divers off Piney Island and the bars around it.

Big Water, Big Spreads

Piney Island sits out in Apalachee Bay off the Wakulla County coast. The bars and grass around it hold redheads and bluebills all winter. This is an open water hunt from a boat blind, and when the birds are working it is as good as diver hunting gets in Florida.

Good to Know

  • Weather matters out here. We make the call on wind and tide, and move the hunt to protected water when we need to.
  • Dress for a wet, cold boat ride even on a mild day.
  • Steel or other nontoxic shot only, same as all waterfowl hunting.

We do not combine parties. Your group hunts together, and only your group, every day you are here. We do not run half day hunts. A half day does not build anything, not for you and not for us. The minimum booking is one full day plus one half day, and three days is what we prefer. Three days lets us move with the weather, put you on birds when the wind swings, and actually get to know the people in the boat. Large and small groups both welcome, and there is no minimum number of hunters.
